Πάνω από 20 άνθρωποι έχασαν τη ζωή τους λόγω της σεισμικής δόνησης μεγέθους 7,4 Ρίχτερ που έπληξε σήμερα την Κολομβία ενώ υπάρχουν δεκάδες τραυματίες κάτω από τα συντρίμμια και έχουν στηθεί επιχειρήσεις απεγκλωβισμού τους. Ο δήμαρχος της Περέιρα, Μαουρίτσιο Σαλαζάρ, επιβεβαίωσε έναν προκαταρκτικό απολογισμό 18 νεκρών και δεκάδων τραυματιών ενώ λίγο νωρίτερα, ο δήμαρχος της γειτονικής πόλης Μανιζάλες ανέφερε ότι δύο άνθρωποι σκοτώθηκαν εκεί.
Ο σεισμός είχε εστιακό βάθος 115 χλμ., ενώ έγινε ιδιαίτερα αισθητός και προκάλεσε ζημιές σε κτίρια με τον κόσμο να απομακρύνεται από αυτά έντρομος.
